UNSC condemns bombing at Russian railway station

United Nations, Dec 30 (IANS): The UN Security Council Sunday strongly condemned the suicide bombing attack at a train station in southern Russia, calling it a "reprehensible act of terrorism".

In a press statement issued here, the 15-member council reiterated its determination to combat all forms of terrorism, in accordance with the UN Charter, Xinhua reported.

The members reaffirmed that "terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, and that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed," said the statement.

A woman suicide bomber blew herself up at the station Sunday, killing at least 14 people and injuring 45, authorities said. The explosion occurred at 12.45 p.m. Moscow time (0845 GMT) in Volgograd, a city near the volatile North Caucasus region, regional law enforcement agencies told local media.
