Armaan Kohli to be presented in court

Mumbai, Dec 17 (IANS): "Bigg Boss Saath-7" contestant Armaan Kohli, who is under arrest for allegedly assaulting British singer-actress Sofia Hayat during their stay on the reality show, will be presented in the court Tuesday after a medical examination, said a police official.

"Armaan will be taken for a medical examination and post that he will be presented in the court today. He is not allowed to meet anyone as of now," an official from the Lonavala police station told IANS Tuesday.

According to the Lonavala police official, Armaan has been booked under Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman), 354(a) (sexual harassment), 294 (sing, recite or utter any obscene song or word) and 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code.

Armaan was arrested between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Monday night from the "Bigg Boss" house, situated in Lonavala, a hill station near Mumbai. He was taken to the Lonavala police station for questioning.

His arrest followed Sofia's complaint at the Santa Cruz police station in Mumbai Dec 11, just days after her eviction from the TV show. During her stay on the show, an argument broke out between her and Armaan. Armaan ended up hitting Sofia with a mop, which left her injured.

Sofia's lawyer Dinesh Khanteri told IANS: "We will get a clear picture of the proceedings by evening."

Armaan, who was seen in movies like "Virodhi", "Aulad Ke Dushman" and "Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani", has been in the limelight on the show because of his bad temper.

The show, hosted by Bollywood star Salman Khan, features celebrities from different walks of life who are made to live together in a secluded house with over 80 well-placed cameras prying on their activities 24X7.
