Prithviraj to play police officer again

Chennai, Dec 16 (IANS): Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, known for films like "Celluloid" and "Aiyyaa", has donned the khaki uniform for the fourth time in a row in upcoming Malayalam action-thriller "7th Day".

He has earlier played a police officer in films such as "Mumbai Police", "Aurangzeb" and "Memories".

The actor will be seen in the role of an ageing IPS officer in "7th Day", which is being directed by Shyam Dhar.

"Prithvi will be playing an IPS officer, who gets suspended and from then on he starts investigating a case that has not been recorded. I couldn't think of anyone else besides Prithvi. Since he has already played cop roles and has been widely appreciated for his performances, I zeroed in on him," director Shyam told IANS.

Prithvi was lauded for his recent performances in "Mumbai Police" and "Memories".

"The entire story is narrated in seven days. What happens at the end of the seventh day holds the key to the climax of the film," he added.

Janani Iyer has been paired with Prithvi in the film, which also features Ajmal, Rahul Madhav, Praveen Prem, Prashanth Narayanan and T.G. Ravi in prominent roles.
