Karkala, Apr 14: Varija (55), wife of Shyamaraya Acharya of Jarkala-Mundli near here, who had mistakenly consumed pesticide at home on April 7, died in a private hospital in Manipal on Thursday.

Family sources informed Daijiworld that the two bottles were very identical and she had an intake from the bottle of termite-killer. The same day she had been admitted to Manipal hospital.

Failing to respond favourably to medication, she succumbed to the side-effects on Thursday.

Town police ASI Abdul Rahim has registered a case based on a complaint from the son of the deceased, Prabhakar Acharya.
