Mumbai, Nov 18: Even though Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela scored a direct hit with its audiences, it seems to have run headlong into more legal trouble, as claimed by petitioner Sandeep Shukla who claimed that the movie had failed to follow all the edicts of the cinematograph act. The movie has already had collections close to Rs 52 crore during its first weekend and its profits seem to be gathering momentum by the day.

The Bombay High Court that was dealing with the case today ordered Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the director, the Censor Board, distributors Eros International and the movie's producer Kishore Lulla to explain how and why the film was granted a certificate of exhibition despite the legal actions working against it. There had been a plea against the release of the movie on its scheduled date of 15 November, 2013 in a local court and it was believed that the release of the movie had been postponed.

The Maharashtra Ram-Leela Mandal had objected to the title of the film-based on the claim that, as the title was associated with the life and deeds of Lord Rama, it hurt the religious sentiments of many devout Hindus. Lord Rama being associated with being the 'ideal man' and the idol of decency and decorum it was shameful that a movie portraying violence and sex was associated with his divine name.

The makers and distributors on the other hand professed vehemently that the movie had been made with all the guidelines of the Cinematograph Act in mind and that it hadn't broken any rules or regulations. the movie, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, released across the country as planned on 15 November, 2013.

Furthermore, with the praise and adulation that it  has received, it has proved the third hit for actress Deepika Padukone this year with - Yeh Jawani hai Deewani and Chennai Express, her other releases also doing well.
