Bantwal, Apr 6: A mobike rider was killed on the spot after a tempo rammed into his bike at Neralakatte on Mani-Mysore Road near Vittal here on Wednesday April 5 afternoon.

The deceased rider has been identified as Uppala Shankar Bhat (38).  He was a mechanic by profession.  He was on his way to Mani from Puttur when a tempo going to Puttur from Mangalore knocked him down at Neralakatte.

As a result he fell on the road and sustained serious injuries in his head and died on the spot.  In the meantime tempo driver Satish fled the place.

The Vittal police have booked a case against tempo driver Satish in this regard.
