CII, World Economic Forum sign collaboration deal


New Delhi, Nov 10 (IANS): The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) Sunday signed an agreement to collaborate in delivering a strong engagement across all multi-stakeholder groups in India.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by WEF founder and executive chairman Klaus Schwab and CII president Kris Gopalakrishnan in the presence of union Minister for Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma, said a CII press release.

Anand Sharma said the reform process in India was in full swing and the government has taken several measures which were yielding positive results, especially in the areas of recovery of rupee and stock market.

The minister said two major integrated convention facilities were being developed in Delhi. He invited the WEF to organise not only the India Economic Summit but an integrated South Asia Economic Summit in the national capital.

The WEF and the CII will identify areas for further projects and collaboration related to the most pressing issues that India is facing, like infrastructure investment, skill gaps and human capital, inclusive growth.
