Obama honours Chicago Blackhawks

Washington, Nov 5 (IANS): US President Barack Obama welcomed the Chicago Blackhawks, winner of 2013 Stanley Cup, at the White House Monday.

It was the second time for many of the team to meet Obama, after the Blackhawks did the same in 2011 for the celebration of their 2010 Stanley Cup, reported Xinhua.

"It's always cool to come back here. There's definitely some Chicago pride here in Washington and it was cool to see that," said team captain Jonathan Toews.

"Since I took office we've hosted a lot of championship teams, but since I've been president only one team has brought a championship to my home town of Chicago and now the Blackhawks have done it twice," said Obama.
