Stolen jewellery recovered from Ranchi shop


Ranchi, Oct 26 (IANS): Stolen jewellery worth around Rs.10 crore has been recovered from the water tank on the roof of a shop where the heist took place, police said here Saturday.

Rs.12.25 crore worth of gold jewellery was stolen from Aanand Jewellers shop and a big part of the stolen jewellery has now been recovered.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team recovered the jewellery Friday night. No one has been arrested so far.

According to police, a dispute took place among the robbers over sharing the loot. The robbers dumped a large part of the jewellery in the water tank and decided to take it away later.

The shop was closed Oct 12-13 due to Durga Puja. When the shop was opened Oct 14, the shop owner was shocked to find that the shop had been burgled.

Police said the criminals had struck at the shop by cutting grills and they also took away the CCTV cameras.
