Mangalore: Mar 22: The District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) on Monday March 20 arrested a youth who made duped prospective in-laws by amassing dowry. The DCIB has handed the accused to Puttur rural station for detailed investigations.
Divakar Rai alias Divakar Bangera alias Ganesh (35) from Puttur has been posing as an eligible bride groom.
A month ago the accused with the help of two of his associates Mahabala Rai and Srredhar Shetty had forged a marriage alliance with parents from Irda village near Puttur. However the accused vanished on along with the dowry.
The police succeeded in arresting Mahabala Rai and had launched a search for Divakar and Sreedhar Shetty.
