Mangalore: Mar 22: The Pa Go Journalism Award 2005 for best rural reporting has been bagged by Govinda N S a stringer for Kannada daily Prajavani in Subramanya.

The annual award was presented at the Press Club by well known TV personality and Kannada Daily Samyuktha Karnataka Chief Eshwar Daithota here on Tuesday.

Govinda, who is an English Teacher in Subramanya College, wrote a news story on rain water harvesting which was published in Prajavani and was judged the best by Pa Go Memorial Charitable Trust. The trust established in memory of eminent journalist Pa Gopalkrishna has been endevouring in recognizing best stories from rural areas since five years.

Speaking on the occasion, Daithota credited stringers for being the primary source to all investigative stories. He also called on the media not to sideline stringers.

President of the District Working Journalist’s Association B Ravindra Shetty was also present on the occasion.
