Mangalore, Mar 21: A lorry laden with rice rolled into a gorge at Coconut Garden (Taretota) near Nantur here on Tuesday March 21 morning injuring two persons.

The injured have been identified as lorry driver Girish (24) and cleaner Praveen (18), residents of Gangavati.  The lorry was coming to the city from Gangavati carrying rice. 

Eyewitnesses said that it was because of the reckless driving of the driver that he lost control over the lorry which resulted in accident.

The lorry has  been totally damaged in the accident.  It took a quite a long time for the people to pull Girish out from the lorry as he was stuck inside the lorry.

Both Girish and Praveen have been admitted to a private hospital here.

Our pictures show the gravity of the accident, which made everyone wonder that the two survived at all.

A complaint has been lodged in the Kadri police station in this regard.
