Beltangady, Mar 21: A nine year old boy who had gone for bath to the river along with his father died of drowning at Tenka Karandur village near here on Tuesday March 21 morning.

Mahesh (9) had gone for bath along with his father to the river flowing near their house.  His father Rukmayya instructed him to stay back on the river bank till he finished his bath.  He then proceeded a little further to have bath.

In the meantime, Mahesh who did not know to swim got down into the water to have bath despite a warning from father not to do so.  But unfortunately, he slipped and fell in the water.  Before his father, who was a bit away from the place, could notice him, Mahesh had drowned.

A complaint has now been registered in the Beltangady police station in this regard.
