Priyanka Chopra donates 5 million to fight cancer

Mumbai, Oct 22: Priyanka Chopra, who recently lost her father to cancer, has donated 5 million to a suburban hospital in Mumbai. The donation will help facilitate the establishment of a cancer ward in the name of Dr Ashok Chopra, her father.

Dr Ashok Chopra who had served as a physician with the Indian Army, passed away at the age of 62 after a long battle with the fatal disease, at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital last June.

Yet to come to terms with the loss of her dear departed father Priyanka, has taken this step to honour his memory and help others fighting the disease as well. Very close to her father, Priyanka had dedicated her TOIFA award for Best Actress, for her work in the movie Barfi! to her father, who despite his illness had travelled to attend the function.

The 31 year old actress said she was unable to talk much about her father as it is still a very emotional topic for her.
