Udupi, Mar 18: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy visited Mother of Sorrows Church here on Saturday March 18 morning at 10.30 am.  Cabinet ministers Basavraj Horatti and Dr V S Acharya too were present on the occasion.


In the beginning the chief minister lighted candle and offered prayers in front of the idol of Mother of Sorrow.  Thereafter, a small prayer session was led by parish priest Fr Mathew Vas.  A special prayer was offered for the political leaders on the occasion.

Later on the chief minister was honoured and presented with a memento by the parish priest on behalf of the parishioners.


MLA K Raghupati Bhat and Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon too were present on the occasion.  More than 300 people were present on the occasion.


Earlier the chief minister arrived in the city accompanied by his cabinet colleagues. 

 

Newly Built Court Complex Inaugurated

Udupi, Mar 18: A spacious court complex was the need the district ever since its inception.  This long cherished dream was fulfilled on Saturday March 18 morning.  Chief Justice of the High Court Cyriac Joseph inaugurated the newly built court complex.


The inaugural function was presided over by chief minister H D Kumaraswamy who is in the district on his official visit.

High Court judges Justice Ram Mohan Reddy, Justice P Vishwanath Shetty
Justice R Gurujan, Justice S Abdul Nazeer, district in-charge minister Dr V S Acharya, Basavraj Horatti, minister of law, justice, human rights and parliamentary affairs and MP Manorama Madhwaraj were the chief guests of the inaugural programme.


MLCs Winnifred Fernandes, Prathapchandra Shetty, Byndoor MLA K Gopal Poojari, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar, Raghupati Bhat and Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon were the special invitees on the occasion.


Udupi Bar Association president Ashok Kumar Shetty, Giliyar and district and sessions judge K N Phaneendra were also present on the occasion.
