Mangalore, Mar 18: The Government has appointed A B Ibrahim, commissioner, Mysore City Corporation, as the Registrar (Evaluation) of Mangalore University.

The university received the order on Thursday March 16.

Ibrahim served as Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation from 1997 to 1999.

Ibrahim handed over charge to his successor in Mysore City Corporation on Thursday. He is yet to take charge in Mangalore University.

It is learnt that the university has requested the Government to retain K S Sooryanarayana Rao as Registrar (Evaluation) as the examination process of degree courses has begun.

The university authorities have reportedly told the Government that as this is a crucial time and the examination has to be held in April and May, it is not proper to change the Registrar (Evaluation).

The university is planning to introduce credit-based semester scheme for degree courses from 2006-07. The examination section is in the process of finalizing work related to it with other authorities concerned, sources said.
