Mangalore, Mar 17: At last, former Puttur MLA and sitting Mangalore Lok Sabha member Devaragunda Venkappa Sadananda Gowda has been appointed to a post which he deserved long ago.

Commonly known as 'DV', Sadananda Gowda is indeed a special politician among the usual bunch of politicians.  Despite being in politics for long, he has maintained the 'Mr Clean' tag.  But somewhat owing to various factors, his services to the party were overlooked time and again.

But now it seems that the national BJP leaders have got around to the idea that Sadananda Gowda is the best person to lead BJP in the state.  Accordingly, he has been appointed the new president of state BJP.  He will take over from Jagdish Shettar who was recently appointed revenue minister in the JD (S) - BJP coalition government.

Gowda's appointment is seen as a victory for B S Yediyurappa and the RSS-supported group, which has been opposing a Lingayat or backward class leader theory, proposed by Anantkumar and his followers.  But Sadananda Gowda has been often identified as a radical RSS loyalist, which clearly indicates that BJP still banks on RSS ideologies when it comes to attaining power.

Gowda's appointment is seen as a clear move by the BJP to get closer to the Vokkaliga community, to which CM Kumaara Swaamy and DV belong.
