Mangalore, Mar 17: An incident of a woman abandoning her 7 day-old baby has been reported from the Lady Goschen Hospital here.
Vasanthi, a resident of Siddakatte in Bantwal taluk, had given birth to a baby girl at a hospital in Moodbidri on March 7. Thereafter she was shifted to Lady Goschen Hospital here on March 9. However, she abandoned her child in the hospital and went home on Tuesday March 14.
It is now known that Vasanthi abandoned the child since she already had two daughters. Fearing the wrath of her in-laws and husband, she left the child in the hospital and went home. Her husband is a private bus agent at Moodbidri.
Dr Sundari, medical officer of Lady Goschen hospital has filed a case in the Pandeshwar police station.
