Beltangady, Mar 14: Dakshina Kannada district Chief Executive Officer (CEO) A M Kunjappa on Monday March 13 issued a show-cause notice to Beltangaday taluk panchayat engineer Dashrath for lapse of duty.

Dashrath was issued notice for being absent during the meeting of the officials called by taluk panchayat about the implementation of water project in the taluk.  Presidents, vice-presidents and secretaries of most of the gram panchayats were present at the meeting.  ZP CEO Kunjappa was present at the meeting.

During the meeting, Kuvettu panchayat secretary Nagesh Chatnalli complained that the water taken from the borewell at Padiyar of Kuvettu panchayat contained kerosene oil substance and smelt awkward.  At this point the CEO wanted explanation from the engineer.  But he was absent at the meeting.  When he called Dashrath on his cell phone, it was switched off.

The CEO then ordered for an enquiry regarding the whereabouts of Dashrath.  It was later known that Dashrath had gone to attend a centenary programme of a school at Guruvayankere.  Enraged by the engineer's negligence, CEO issued a show-cause notice to Dashrath on the spot.

He also ordered an enquiry against the engineer about the irregularities in the drinking water project of Nada panchayat.

ZP president Mamata Gatti, vice president Dharanendra Kumar, ZP member Sundar Gowda, TP president Valambra Narayan Gowda and others were present at the meeting.
