Political forces were behind Muzaffarnagar riots: Rahul

Aligarh (UP)  Oct 9 (PTI): In a veiled attack on SP and BJP, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today said political forces were behind the recent Muzaffarnagar communal riots as they feel they cannot win without creating such conflicts.

"People are made to fight for political gains...If Uttar Pradesh is going behind, it is because people are divided here. Hindus and Muslims are made to fight each other. One caste is made to fight another.

"The common people don't want to fight. There are such political forces who feel if there is no fight, they will not win...That's why they want Hindus and Muslims to fight," he said, addressing a public meeting in Aligarh, which is not very far from Muzaffarnagar, without naming any political party.

The ruling SP and BJP have been blamed for the recent riots in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas that claimed 62 lives as part of polarisation efforts ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections.

Exhorting people to unite, Gandhi said, "Till you unite, Uttar Pradesh cannot move forward. The Congress will help you do this and fight for you and your rights."

He also lamented that Indian politics had seen such times when one had to select a time to speak the truth, as he did on the issue of rejecting the Ordinance brought by the government to save convicted lawmakers from immediate disqualification.

He also took a dig at the Akhilesh government in the state saying it had made a lot of promises but fulfilled none and said it was only the Congress that can ensure speedy development of the state through unity and harmony among all religions and castes.

Reminding people of his "fight for their cause" on forcible land acquisitions, the Congress Vice President said he stood by his promise of providing a Land Acquisition Bill, which got passed in Parliament despite hurdles by the Opposition.

Gandhi undertook a padyatra in Bhatta Parsaul in 2011 for the rights of farmers in Uttar Pradesh, after which his party brought a new land bill that made acquisition of land difficult till the farmers got adequate compensation in lieu thereof.

    Mr. Salian,
    1) You are stating a part of his speech, which actually gives incorrect meaning. Please go through the complete speech. Rahul speaks sense more than your ‘MONO’
    2) ‘MONO’s’ speech never has any content, It is just some statements praising himself. People like you applaud for whatever he says, even if it doesnot make any sense!!!!

Like their leader these Sangh supporters are experts in twisting the facts. One gentlemen has listed what Rahul Gandhi said and try to show them as poor remarks. But read it carefully and all points Rahul said seems to be intellectual comments rather than sarcastic funny comments by the prime minister nominee.

I have seen the complete video and Rahul Gandhi referring to population says scale of Gujarat is bigger than U.K. and Scale of India is bigger than U.K and USA put together. He is right. Intellectual young professionals present there understood that scale refers to population and he got big applause from the crowd. I think Sangh supporters do not understand what scale means and they consider it as geographical size.

Did they ever publish a report on 300 Jat mahasabha members who were gunned down at the Joulie Canal ? I guess not. One only needs to listen to the police communication transcripts that talks about "having orders not to do anything" while AK47 and grenades were lobbed at the jats.

WB,Bihar and UP are lost causes. Many "new Dhaka nagar" have propped up across those states by illegal Bangladeshis. These Bangladeshi immigrants are given national identification cards for the sake of votes. There will be many more Muzzafarnagar like riots in the years to come thanks to "secular" brigade and their vote bank politics.

Uttarakhand, devastated by massive floods and landslides that left over 1,000 dead and thousands homeless in June this year, spent over 22 crores on advertisements in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Details from a Right To Information application reveal that the state government spent crores on advertising in the last four months, to bolster the image of the hill state and announce the revival of yatras that had been suspended due to floods.

In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, a number of ads were put out for missing persons and information on helpline numbers.

The state government spent Rs. 10 crore on grabbing television spots and another Rs. 1.27 crore on radio jingles. Also, Rs. 1.6 crore was spent just on an ad when the Kedarnath puja restarted last month. Similarly, Rs. 56 lakh were spent on an ad on Hemkund Sahib and Rs. 78 lakh on a Yamunotri advertisement.

Gurvinder Singh Chaddha, who obtained the information under RTI, feels the state government could have used the money far more constructively by investing it in rebuilding activities in the state.

It looks like you really do not know where was India 50 years ago. With the kind of politicians we have any party might need another 100 years to transform this country to even a developing country. China was far behind us but now we lost the race long ago because it is not one party which ruined India but each and every party that came to power. Can you show what non congress governments done for India? I am sure you will loose
