Seven militants killed in Kashmir operation: Army chief

Hindon (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 8 (IANS): Seven militants have been killed in the operation against heavily-armed guerrillas who infiltrated in the Keran sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, Indian Army chief General Bikram Singh said Tuesday.

"This is not an intrusion, it is a desperate bid for infiltration," the army chief told reporters on the sidelines of the annual Air Force Day Parade here.

"These terrorists were in a nullah (drain). What advantage would they get by sitting in a nullah. Seven of them have been killed," he said.

The Indian Army's operation against the infiltrators entered its 15th day Tuesday.
