Nine missing as boat capsizes in Punjab


Chandigarh, Oct 3 (IANS): At least nine were missing after a boat capsized in Beas river in Punjab's Kapurthala district Thursday, police said.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.

Police officials in Kapurthala said that at least nine people were missing after the boat capsized near Sultanpur Lodhi, 180 km from here.

The victims were heading for a fair across the river when the incident took place.

Rescue teams reached the spot but could not save any more passengers on the boat.
