Kolkata, Oct 3 (IANS): Border Security Force personnel Thursday arrested one person and seized 22 gold biscuits, worth over Rs.79 lakh, from near the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, an official statement said.

The biscuits, weighing approximately 2.691 Kg, was seized from the possession of Saidul Islam Mandal, resident of Swarupnagar in the district.

A BSF statement said the BSF personnel at the Tentulia check post got an input that a gold consignment, concealed on a motorbike, will be delivered to Kolkata.

The troopers put barriers on the road, and stopped the bike when they sighted it.

Though the pillion rider managed to flee, Islam was apprehended and 22 gold biscuits, two ear rings and a gold bar was sized from him. He was later handed over to police for further investigation.
