Dead NRI student's friends denied bail


New Delhi, Sep 20 (IANS): A court here Friday rejected the bail pleas of a dead NRI student's four friends, facing charges of drug abuse.

Metropolitan Magistrate Deepak Wason rejected the bail pleas of Shivank Gambhir, Madhav Bhandari, Pranil Shah and Ritham Girhotra, all in their 20s.

The four are in judicial custody till Sep 30, along with Surender Bali (46) and Naresh Mishra (60), the two security guards at South Park Apartments in Kalkaji area.

Anmol Sarna, 21, who completed his high school from New York, was to return to Canada for further studies but died after a drug party Sep 13 night organised at his friend's flat in South Park Apartments.

Police said the party attended by Sarna lasted till midnight after which he was allegedly thrashed by the guards for creating a ruckus in the complex. Around 2 a.m., Sarna was found bleeding at the apartment complex. He died in hospital.

Police have booked the two guards for assaulting Sarna, whereas his four friends have been booked for drug abuse.
