Beltangady, Feb 25: Five persons have been arrested in connection with a murder that took place in Mumbai, wherein two persons, one hailing from Balenja here and another from Mysore, had been killed by being administered poison.

While the youth from Balenja has been identified as Sudhakar (24), son of Dombayya Poojary, the identity of the person from Mysore is yet to be established.

Sudhakar was working as a bar manager in Mumbai from the last four years. Both Sudhakar and the person from Mysore had been accommodated in a building belonging to the bar owner. On Friday February 17, both the youths were found murdered under the bed in their room. It had been reported that the duo had been administered poison.

The police arrested one Krishnappa Poojary who was working in a hotel next to where Sudhakar was employed in the bar, and also was Sudhakar’s neighbour in his native Balenja, was arrested along with four others. 

The motive for the murder has not yet been established.  The bodies of the deceased were brought from Mumbai via Hubli.
