Mangalore, Feb 22:  Shakir alias Mohammed Shakir, key accused in a mobile phone theft case, was arrested by the police on Saturday February 18, the moment he came out of hiding.

A mobile phone showroom in Puttur was burgled in October 2005, wherein 13 mobile phones along with mobile phone recharge currency was stolen.

One Salmara Ashraf was arrested in this connection in November and 7 phones were seized from him. On interrogating Ashraf, Shakir’s involvement in the theft was revealed.

 Based on his confession, the police raided Shakir’s wife’s house and recovered the rest of the mobile phones.
