Bangalore, Feb 22: A burkha-clad woman allegedly stabbed an elderly woman and robbed her of gold ornaments worth Rs. 50,000 in Banaswadi police station limits on Monday afternoon.

Police said that around 3.30 p.m., Arogya Mary (63) was standing in front of her house in Kammanahalli. A woman in a black burkha came to Mary's house and asked if her son, a real estate agent, was at home.

When Mary told her that her son was away, the woman asked for a glass of water. When Mary returned with a glass of water, the woman, who had by then entered the house, took out a knife from her handbag and stabbed Mary. She relieved Mary of the gold ornaments she was wearing and fled the scene, police said.

The Banaswadi police have registered a case.
