Mangalore, Feb 21:  Inaugurating an information programme on preventing accident and solution, Mamatha D S Gatti, president, zilla panchayat, expressed her concern over the negative effects of using mobile phones while driving.  She asked the concerned authorities to take stern action against the people who talk on mobiles while driving.

The programme was held at Jeppu Infant Mary’s Prashanthi Nilaya on Monday February 20.

H N Ramesh, RTO, said though insurance is available on accidents, no amount can compensate for the injured body.  The increase in the number of vehicles are also a cause for accidents.  The public should have full information of the vehicle, registration and driving, he added.

J K Pawar, National Insurance divisional officer, Melwyn Peris, development officer, and advocate Santhosh Nayak, were the resource persons.
