Bangalore, Feb 20: Tension prevailed in Jayanti Grama in Hennur police station limits on Sunday February 19 after a protest against a training centre which is said to have been engaged in conversions of gypsies in the area.

A group of more than 50 persons who stormed at Gypsy Works Fellowship Training Centre at Horamavu complained that the 3-day-long religious meet held by the training centre from Friday February 17 was aimed at converting gypsies to Christianity. The protestors shouted slogans against the training centre and asked its management to immediately stop the ongoing religious meet.

Later the police organized a bilateral talk between the management of the training centre and the protestors during which the former confirmed that they are not aiming at conversion at all and the allegations made against them are false.

The meet is an annual even held for gypsies to create awareness among them about their religious customs and it was the fifth such occasion in the city. However, the protestors lent a dumb ear to these explanations and went on with the protest before the police intervened.
