Sabyasachi's 'absolute royal' line at LFW

Mumbai, Aug 28 (IANS): Ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee showcased an absolutely royal collection full of velvet and satin for his comeback show at the Lakme Fashion Week here Tuesday night. He presented a line at the extravaganza after five years, and what a grand finale it was!

The show, sponsored by Lakme Absolute Royal, was inspired by the royal era of queens, and it was indeed classy.

The apparels were heavily embroidered with gold and copper threads, giving them a regal touch. The designer showcased unique saris with distinct designs on the pleats and pallu.

There were also floor-lenth anarkalis, short kurtas with churidars, while the men's collection included heavy sherwanis with turbans.

The colours used for the collection were also majestic - cream, red, black, cream and even peach.

The clothes were royal indeed, but even the ramp and the stage were aptly decorated with grand chandeliers suspended from the cieling, and flowers adorning the entry of the ramp.

The show also began on a different note, with a woman singing live. Thereafter, two to three models walked simultaneously to showcase attires of a similar kind together.

Celebrities including actors Shraddha Kapoor and Milind Soman, as well as designer Rohit Bal attended the show, which turned to be a fitting end to the LFW Winter/ Festive 2013.

The event began Aug 23.
