Mangalore, Feb 4: Despite the on-going strike by the Airports Authority of India staff, the operations in the Bajpe airport went on as usual without any problems. All the 6 flights operated on Friday February 3 too, in spite of the strike by some of the airport workers opposing the privatization of Delhi and Mumbai airports.

However, the dry grass near the airport caught fire on Friday.  But the immediate intervention by fire brigade men brought the fire under control.  Since the airport staff are on strike, the services of State Fire Brigade were utilized for the operation.  Besides, the CISF staff of Kudremukh too have been hired for duty.

Airport director M R Vasudeva said that there was no problem caused for the flight operations owing to the fire and the flights landed and took off in time without any problems.
