Mangalore, Feb 2: In another tragedy surrounding love relationship, a young couple resorted to suicide, after their parents opposed their marriage on Wednesday February 1 at Malemar near Derebail here.

Yatish (23), a resident of Kodikkal and Prameela (20), daughter of Sheena Poojary of Derebail were in love with each other for the last 3 years.  Recently their families had come to know about their relationship.  When Prameela asked her parents' permission to marry Yatish, they opposed.  Even her brothers ordered her that she should not be seeing Yatish hereafter.

Yatish was an auto rickshaw driver by profession earlier.  But at Prameela's behest he had left that job and was involved in construction work now.  Since both of them were from the same caste, they had expected their parents’ permission for the marriage.  However, Prameela's parents not only opposed their marriage, but were also seeking a different proposal for her.

Having come to know about this, Yatish and Prameela tried to convince their parents once again.  But their efforts went in vain.  Depressed by this, they ended their life by hanging themselves from the roof of a dilapidated cowshed at Malemar near Derebail on Wednesday night.

Prameela's family members said on Thursday February 2 that she was at home till 10 in the night on Wednesday.  But when they woke on Thursday morning, she was not in the house.  So they started searching for her.  Finally they found her hanging along with Yatish in the cowshed at Malemar.

A suicide note was found at the spot in which the lovers had stated that they themselves are responsible for their death.

Kavoor police have registered a case in this regard.
