Mangalore, Feb 2: One person was killed and three others were injured when a tanker rammed into a Maruti Zen car at Kallapu near Tokkottu on National Highway 17 on Thursday February 1 night.

The deceased has been identified as Ibrahim, a resident of K C Road near Talapady here.  He along with 3 others was on his way to the city on a Maruti Zen car when a tanker speeding towards Tokkottu from the city rammed into the car. 

As a result, the car driver Akram Ashraf Bava, Abubakar, Abbas and Ibrahim were  critically injured and were admitted to a private hospital at Tokkottu.  Since Ibrahim had sustained serious injuries and was fighting for life, he was shifted to Omega Hospital near Pumpwell here.  However, he succumbed to his injuries late in the night. the other three injured are being treated at the Tokkottu based private hospital.

Though the people gathered on the spot almost immediately, the tanker driver managed to flee the place.  The police have not yet been able to nab him.  A case has been filed in the Ullal police station by one Ibrahim U M in this regard.
