Chhattisgarh sounds alert on bird flu


Raipur, Aug 4 (PTI): An alert has been sounded in Chhattisgarh after the outbreak of bird flu in a poultry farm at Anjora village of Rajnandgaon district by the health department of the state.

"Health department today sounded an alert in the state following the outbreak of bird flu in Anjora," Minister of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Chandra Shekhar Sahu said.

Following the deaths of birds in the district, samples were sent to Bhopal for tests and Avian influenza virus was detected, he said.

As preventive measures, area within 10 km of the village is being monitored by the health officials while area within 1 km is being sanitised, he said.
