Mangalore, Jan 24: The School of Social Work - Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore has been accredited with 'A' Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

The School of Social Work is a pioneer Post-graduate Centre for Social Work Education in Karnataka. It is affiliated to Mangalore University. The Institute is committed to scholarly study and professional practice that promote individual and institutional change, consistent with the goals of a just and humane society. The School of Social Work is founded and managed by the Daughters of the Heart of Mary (DHM) Society an international religious society, founded in France in 1790.

NAAC is an autonomous body of quality control and assessment, an integral part of the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, Government of India.

School of Social Work is one among the top 7% of the colleges in the country to be graded 'A' by NAAC.

Courses of Study:
 
The Institute offers the following courses:

1. Ph.D. in Social Work
2. Master of Social Work (MSW)
3. Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W)
4. Bachelor of Arts (B.A)

The institute also offers special subjects for B.A. like Criminology, Psychology, Rural Development, Secretarial Practice, and Computer Applications which have better employment potential, besides Sociology, Economics, Kannada and English as major subjects

Applications are issued for BA/BSW/MSW in the month of April/May 2006 at the college office

The total student strength for the academic year under review is 429 comprising of 229 BA, 96 BSW, 100 MSW and 4 Ph.D., scholars respectively.
