Puttur, Jan 21: Timmappa Poojary (38), a toddy tapper of Udane near here, died of falling from the palm tree on Friday January 20 morning.

Timmappa, son of Annu Poojary was a resident of Puttige-Kumeru in Konaje.  He was a toddy tapper by profession.  For the last one year he had taken a palm tree in the farms of one Eliamma on contract, to tap toddy.  On Friday morning, he had climbed up the palm tree as usual to tap toddy when he lost balance and fell on the ground.  He died on the spot.

He is survived by wife, a son and two daughters.

A complaint has been registered in the Nelyadi police outpost in this regard.
