Udupi, Jan 21: Jyothi (22), a resident of Tottam near Malpe here, who had sustained serious burn injuries in a fire mishap on Wednesday January 18, died in the KMC Hospital, Manipal on Thursday January 19.

Jyothi had sustained serious burn injuries after she fell on the stove in her house on Wednesday.  Jyothi, after preparing tea was keeping the kerosene can on the rack when the can fell on her.  Drenched in kerosene, she lost her balance and fell on the stove which was burning.  As a result she had sustained over  90% burns  and was admitted to KMC Hospital at Manipal.

However, she succumbed to the injuries on Thursday afternoon.  A complaint has been registered in the Malpe police station.
