Mangalore, Jan 21: These seem to be the heydays for Tulu language.  While on the one hand the Karnataka Tulu Academy led by Sitaram Kulal has been organizing various programmes to promote and protect Tulu language, on the other hand, a lot of corporate and individual initiatives too are being held in the same direction. This is indeed a good auguring in spreading Tulu culture and traditions and handing them to the next generation.

Now one more such initiative, which has been hitting headlines is about the production of one more Tulu movie, "Kadala Mage" (Son of the Sea).  With the production of this movie, Bantwal MLA Nagraj Shetty will try his hands for the first time in the film industry.  The film has been budgeted at Rs 40 lac and will be shot over a month before releasing it in the month of April 2006.

Debutants Digant, Surya and Sarita Jain playing the lead roles. Besides Nagraj Shetty himself, national award winning actress Tara, versatile actor turned politician Mukhyamantri Chandru, Rajesh Bantwal, Dayanand Kulal, Dr Mohan Alva etc,  will act in the film. 

It will also be the directorial debut for Praveen, who said that this commercial film is a triangular love story.  Noted theatrist Vijay Kumar Kodialbail has written the lyrics, while S P Chandrakant has scored the music.  Mithun Prasad and Krishna Kumar have written the  story while Madhu Suratkal has penned the dialogues.

The film will be shot at Mattu, Manipal, Kaup and other places.

The muhurta of the film was inaugurated by Shri Lakshminarayan Asranna, temple priest, Shree Durgaparameshwari Temple at Kateel on Friday January 20.  Dr Mohan Alva reeled the camera while A J Shetty, managing director, A J Groups, clapped the film.
