Mangalore, Jan 21: A three-month long ‘Janandolana’ (People’s Movement), will be organized by the Indian Union Muslim League and other Muslim organizations, to protest against false propaganda being carried out against madrasas in Dakshina Kannada district.

On Tuesday January 24, Janandolana and Dharani Satyagraha will be held in front of the deputy commissioner’s office.

The movement will aim at removing the confusion, suspicion and misconceptions relating to madrasas created among the people of other religions, stated a press release from the Indian Union Muslim League.

Mirza Ahmed Mehdi, president, Karnataka State Muslim League, will inaugurate the programme, while Mirza Zainul Aabiden Thangal, vice-president of the League, will preside. Sunni leaders from various organizations will also attend the programme.

All madrasas in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will remain closed on that day, stated the release.
