Mangalore, Jan 21: Airports Authority of India (AAI), executive director, air traffic management visited Bajpe airport and inspected the fire station and the new runway on Tuesday.

He offered valuable suggestions to the authorities for smooth operation of flights to Bajpe airport director M R Vasudeva.

The airport director briefed his officer on the need of a new mobile tower to facilitate movement of aircraft in the new runway.

The mobile tower is required for the air traffic control officers of the air traffic control to function effectively, he added.

‘‘This is because the new runway is at a distance from ATC. Officers should have a clear view of take off and landing of aircraft,’’ Vasudeva said and added that the new runway would be ready for commissioning on March 31.
