China floods leave four dead


Beijing, July 11 (IANS): Four people have been confirmed dead and one other missing after rainstorm-triggered flash floods in China's Henan province Wednesday, authorities said.

The downpours hit Lingbao city's Yangping town Wednesday morning, with precipitation amounting to 86 mm in three hours, and caused flash floods, reported Xinhua citing the emergency management office.

As of 5 p.m., five people were confirmed to have been washed away by floods. Four of them were drowned and the other missing, the office said.

Firefighters and police officers were dispatched to the scene on a search and rescue mission.
