L K Advani quits from all BJP posts

BJP parliamentary board rejects Advani's resignation

New Delhi, Jun 10 (IANS):
The BJP's parliamentary board has rejected the resignation of party veteran L.K. Advani, BJP chief Rajnath Singh said Monday.

"The parliamentary board has rejected the resignation of Advani," Singh told reporters after a meeting of the board at his official residence here.

Modi urges Advani to change decision

New Delhi, June 10 (IANS) :
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Monday made a passionate appeal to L.K. Advani to reverse his decision to resign from party positions.

"Had a detailed conversation with Advaniji on phone. Urged him to change his decision. I hope he will not disappoint lakhs of (party workers)," Modi tweeted.

A day after the BJP appointed Modi to lead it in the next Lok Sabha election, Advani quit major party posts after accusing most of its leaders of pursuing "personal agendas".

In another tweet, Modi said he had told BJP president Rajnath Singh that he would not be able to attend a meeting of the party's parliamentary board but would abide by any decision it takes.

L K Advani quits from all BJP posts, Modi urges him not to resign

New Delhi, Jun 10 (IANS): The BJP was thrown into disarray Monday, barely a day after it named Narendra Modi to lead it in the next Lok Sabha election, with the veteran L.K. Advani declaring he was quitting all major party posts and accusing most BJP leaders of pursuing "personal agendas".

Advani's stunning decision, if not reversed, is bound to have a bearing on the acceptance of Modi as the prime ministerial candidate in the 2014 Lok Sabha election. By evening, the BJP's top leaders were huddled with Advani at his residence, trying to persuade him to change his mind.

With its rift out in the open, an embarrassed Bharatiya Janata Party hurriedly called a meeting of its parliamentary board, one of the three bodies from which Advani resigned, the others being the national executive and the election committee.

From Gujarat, Modi, 62, made a passionate appeal to Advani, 86, to take back his resignation and appealed to the elder not to disappoint "lakhs" of party activists. But Advani refused to budge.

"Had a detailed conversation with Advaniji on phone. Urged him to change his decision. I hope he will not disappoint lakhs of (party workers)," Modi tweeted.

Advani, who helped the party to grow from an also-ran into a powerful entity in the 1980s and gave it its hardline Hindutva ideology, had failed to persuade the BJP not to elevate the ambitious Gujarat chief minister.

In a stinging letter to BJP president Rajnath Singh that was made public, Advani said he found it "difficult to reconcile either with the current functioning of the party or the direction in which it is going".

The three-para letter made no reference to Modi, who for years enjoyed Advani's patronage, but its tone made it evident that the resignation was linked to his elevation at a party meet in Goa Sunday.

The decision to name Modi head of the election campaign committee would have made the Gujarat chief minister -- the BJP's best known Hindutva icon -- its virtual face in the Lok Sabha election.

Advani, who led the BJP in the 2009 general election which it lost, kept away from the Goa national executive meet citing poor health.

"For some time I have been finding it difficult to reconcile either with the current functioning of the party, or the direction in which it is going," said Advani, increasingly overshadowed in the BJP by second rung leaders.

He said he no longer had "the feeling that this is the same idealistic party" formed in 1951 by Shyama Prasad Mookerji, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Nanaji Deshmukh and Atal Bihari Vajpayee "whose sole concern was the country and its people".

"Most leaders of ours are now concerned just with their personal agendas," said Advani, in one of the harshest condemnation of BJP leaders by anyone within, bringing its internal rift, talked about for some time but never admitted by its party leaders, out in the open.

"I have decided, therefore, to resign from the three main fora of the party: national executive, parliamentary board and the election committee. This may be regarded as my resignation letter."

Advani remains an ordinary member of the BJP.

The resignation stunned the BJP. The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), the BJP's ideological parent, called it a "very unfortunate" development. Rajnath Singh tweeted that he had not accepted Advani's resignation.

The BJP's allies were worried. Janata Dal-United leader Sharad Yadav said: "It is sad... It is not good for NDA's health."

JD-U leader K.C. Tyagi added: "It is tough for us to remain a part of the NDA now that the BJP's tallest leader is gone."

The Congress did not hide its glee over the war within the BJP. Spokesperson Renuka Choudhary said: "I'm not surprised. BJP is politically bankrupt, they have sidelined people responsible for building it."

The Karachi-born Advani, who some years ago fell out ideologically with the party core for suggesting that Mohammad Ali Jinnah had a secular vision for Pakistan, and the now ailing Vajpayee have been for decades the two pillars of the BJP and its earlier incarnation, Bharatiya Jana Sangh.

Advani joined the RSS in 1947 and the Jana Sangh when it was founded in 1951. He became the BJP president in 1986, when it had only two members in the Lok Sabha, and soon became a strong votary of the Ram temple movement, which culminated in the demolition of the Babri mosque in 1992.

The Ram temple campaign helped the BJP to grow and grow, until it finally took power nationally in 1998.

Advani quitting not good for NDA: JD-U

After senior BJP leader L.K. Advani quit all party posts Monday, JD-U chief Sharad Yadav described the development as a sad one which would adversely impact the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

"It is sad... not good for NDA's health," Yadav told news channel NDTV.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) are constituents of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), a coalition of parties that projected a united front in the last two general elections of 2004 and 2009.

Yadav is the convenor of the National Democratic Alliance.

The JD-U and the BJP run a coalition government in Bihar.

Mr. Prabhu, I fully agree with your comments. These Modi bashers have only one Mantra of Guj riots. Godhra Kand which triggered the riots is not a barbaric or heinous to them. They don't even accept the fact that Modi has proved his innocence by winning the elections 3 times in a row after the riots. Question is If retaliation is justified or not. Gujarat people have answered it again last month winning 6 seats for BJP.

Mr.Prabhu , The whole world knows the truth about what happened in Gujarat riots . USA is denying visa to Modi for this particular reason , the majority of local / international media keeps writing about this . So from this facts i know what is truth .

And Godhra riots why was it started ? Who started it ?? Is there a clear report about this matter ? The only reports are prepared by modi puppets !! So i wont comment much on this issue .

And regarding 1984 riots who is responsible i dont have much knowledge about it ! But whatever happened there was very wrong and lot of innocent people were killed .

And there should be some reason so many people opposing Modi ( not this many people opposed Advani also) Not only from Minority community but also from majority community . Even his own party people are against him for whatever reasons.

And major people supporting him are RSS!! And people who just are blown by his PR /Publicity skills.

Its foolish to say Advani as secular. All the way he was part of a party Dubbed as totally communal. I do not see any meaning in this guy resigning except he just couldn't tolerate MOdis growth. Modis growth indeed is A contribution of Congress shameful misrule. Congress must take this blame .Modi is a very very sharp man. Modis growth is very very shameful and could be dangerous . A man accused of several things in Gujarat is becoming a candidate for PM? Shame Shame -Shame.

Secular!!. If we want to be a secular country first stop reservations.. Why we have to get through General Merits and you get through with quotas?. Why reservation in government jobs?. Lets all be equal, can we. It is your own congress and people along with it who created this divide and now you want us to be secular too?. First let all this be in place then we will talk about being secular. When you get all this on the plate it is easy to sing the secular tune. Why Hindus&christians are killed in Pakistan?. All the other reservations is for the Hindu community and there is a reason for this also since they suppressed by 1000's of years by Majority . This is one of the reasons for reservation.

And as per you tolerating the minorities ,we know very well !!there was a recent example of how a priest ran away as he didnt want to conduct rituals of Koraga wedding !! And there are many more cases like this !!

So just wake up and see the reality!!

It is time for Mr Advaniji to retire gracefully from politics as well. If he had reservations about the various issues going on in the party, he should come to the National utive Committee meeting & brought these in the open forum. Just last week, he made some uncalled for comparison between Shivraj Chouhan & Modiji as if that was the most urgent issue facing the BJP & the nation. Ever since 2009, when he was forced to publicly give up his PM ambitions, he has been venting his spleen in this manner. I think BJP must stand firm in all issues here. There is no question of allowing Advaniji to dictate terms to the organisation in this manner & indulge in blackmail. What is his grievance now - Nitin Gadkari must head the committee for assembly polls!! This gentleman had to resign the BJP in disgrace after all the revelations about the alleged shenanigans about his group companies & he is Advaniji's grand choice!! What is the 'idealistic' issue here - that BJP will accommodate all tainted persons when their main plank against the UPA-II is the enormous scams/corruption etc., Rajnathji MUST stand firm, if ADvaniji goes, let him go, if JD(U) goes, let them go as well. BJP will do better without the albatross of Nitishji & Sharadji & let them a fresh alliance with Advaniji in whatever he decides to do from now on.

He coined words like "minorityism," "minority appeasement," and "pseudo-secularism" to malign India’s secular polity.

One section simply hates him while the other blindly support him. In India, it is impossible to get a leader who is acceptable to 100% of the people. There will be grumblings, dissents and protests. That is when the majority opinion counts. There is no doubt that Modi should be given a chance. For that matter Rahul may deserve one too but certainly NOT before Modi (as per current opinion poll).

WHEN RSS COMES WITH ANOTHER STRATEGY OF MAKING RAJNATH THE PM CANDIDATE

THEN THEY WILL ALSO NAIL MODI

THIS IS THE TRUE PICTURE OF BJP

    FIRST PRAISE GADKERI

    THEN MAKE HIM A "NAKARI"

PRAISE YEDDY UNTIL BJP GETS GADDY

THEN THROW HIM OUT OF GADDY AND MAKE HIM TOTALLY NADDY

NAMO is the MASS KILLER not Mass leader. We all know the personal agenda of this man, to wipe out secularism in the country & to follow RSS agenda. we dont need dictator. what development has he done in Gujarat, he made 10 billionaires richer & gave free land to 3 industrialist. Today Gujarat stands 10th or 11th in the developed list of states in India. The corruption drama what you see is the creation of BJP. we saw what happened to 122 cancelled telecom licences that went on auction. BJP are projecting notional loss as real loss with lots of if's & Buts.. All Namo supporters check your facts...If you say Indira Gandhi was dictator then it was for the good as she kept rogues in check & controlled them. She never had communal agenda like the Sangh Parivar has. Thank you Mr. Advani for doing Namo Namo Swaahaa.. on the first day itself. Atalji we are missing your shayari....

LK Advani's resignation is a big blow to BJP. It is all because of Modi and his supporters. LK Advani was one of the pillars of BJP and a nationalist. Sometimes he used to make some controversial statements which I used to disagree. BJP should have agreed to his suggestions which would have helped BJP in the long run, if not in 2014 general elections. Now that there is disunity in BJP, Congress will surely win the next general election and form the Govt at the center with the help of other parties. However, there should be a strong opposition party for a healthy democracy.

Jeevan, Where will RSS enter? RSS is even otherwise in control of BJP and BJP $#!ts and eats on directions from RSS.

The problem is some of the BJP cadres don't like RSS controlling them and the difference in Ideology.

Secondly RSS is not a secular organisation - where as in India at the present stage no party can win a election and form government when it's not secular.

Advaniji realised that being secular is the only way to form government (result of 2004 and 2009 elections) and tried to bring in a change in himself and tried to be moderate and tried to distance from RSS - which didn't go well with RSS.

Result : RSS elevates Modi. Advaniji is sidelined.

Net Result : 2 Parts of BJP.

The state of Advaniji is like : Genji la ijji..Genjig padna kai la ijji..

    or should I say..

If one peeps into RSS history since Morarji Desai Janatha Government till today, its decisions on BJP matters have utterly failed weakening the party severel.Morarji Desai govt failed due RSS ideology.NDA govt of Vajapyee could not complete 5 years and has to take decision of election at 4 1/2 years terms and meserably failed to get elected.Later onwards also RSS could not successful in bring the party to power. In Karnataka BJPs downfall is mainly due to failure of RSS to bring the CM and rest of the council of ministers to to its so called principled ideology bracket and people have to through out the government out of poower. Its leaders made good amount of booty from Yediyurappa and allied leaders>Once tasting the corrupt booty it it took long time to punish the CM when it was too late.Rest is the history.Anantha Kumar RSSman isprimarily responsible in debacle of of BJP regime in Karnataka.BJP president gudbud Gadkari is a blue eyed boy of RSS Pramukh Mohan Bhagawat who turned out to be a corrupt and brought the Presidential seat to shame. He was dislodged and RSS has no shame for thier decision. Now also I have strong doubt that Anantha Kumar a close confident of Advani might have played dubious role in Advani resigning all posts held by him in the party.Against a serious blow for BJP at high command level. In total RSS is turned to be destuctor of the party more than advicer means its leaders at decison taking level are immatured and irresponsible. In the recently help assy election in DK/Udupi also BJPs debacle is due to RSS,whose leader/s are only interested in box office collections nothing else. Its leaders claim credit only for success but not for failures.Thats a great quality of RSS leaders apart from too much over confidence nothing withstanding the ground realities.

Advani is certainly communal but using your own phrase Modi is 'super-communal' thats why he is such a threat to the unity of India. Hope this clarifies the opposition to Modi. Moreover, Advani has begun to distance himself slowly from communal forces thats why the RSS is against him now. Perhaps Advani realises now that he is old and getting closer to the end he needs to cleanse his soul for his past wrong doings which is a good thing.
Finally, Congress PM Manmohan Singh did publicly apologise to the Sikh community on behalf of the Congress for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Thank you Mr.Advani. You will go down in history as one of the tallest political leaders of our country. But a time comes when the baton has to be passed on. I remember when Pete Sampras (Ex tennis player) said, (when he first won the Wimbledon) You cannot play the same game of tennis when the rackets are changed from wood to steel. That is the change you are seeing in the party. Accept it Mr. Advani. You can never become PM, even if BJP led NDA goes to election (you as PM candidate), you will suffer same fate as yr 2009. I fully agree, Mr. Modi is smart and able administrator, his record shows it self in India & abroad, he has a electrifying speech, he knows what he is talking about, he doesn not need people to write his speech, and a skill of attracting people. I have seen documentary about his achievement in Gujarath & his speech on BBC ( British Broad Casting Corporation) & SBS (Australian TV Channel). I personally don't prefer BJP led NDA or Congress led UPA, both are equally corrupt, best choice for Indian voters is Arvind Kejriwall's Aam Admi Party, clean, decent and non corrupt.

Advani is starving to become PM. He himself d as PM waiting in and sidelined Atal Bihari ji. Because of his cunningness, people did not give vote to BJP. He is MP of my constituency (Gandhinagar - Gujarat) but I have never seen him a taking visit of our area in last 9 years. He only comes to attend political summit for couple of hours. His margin of winning has been reduced drastically in last election. He should not forget that in Gujarat it is Modi not BJP. He does not have time for people. He thinks that he contribute in the party so it is sole right to become PM till he dies. He should not forget that there are so many people who worked for BJP and still working without having any ambition

Advani has become second Yedyurappa. Both were ambitious and greedy for power. However unlike Yedyurappa Advani is not branded as corrupt.
Kuinka Shakuni mama had played great role in dislogding Yedyurappa from the power and also drowing the BJP in Karnataka.Being a staunch follower of Advani,he was seen on the dias along with other leaders in the BJP meet at Goa.which might have made many to raise eye brows.Result is this..Advani resigns from important posts of BJP.I strongly suspect Kuinkas hand in the action of Advani too. This was was on expected lines but modes operandi was not known.Let us wait and see.

In any case be it whatever field except those being professionals and on their own there should be a time limit for aspiring also. One should quit when people ask Why ? instead of Why Not? Indian politics is the 'pits'

Single party coming to power in today’s circumstances are highly unlikely. If Modi may by any chance pull BJP to simple majority, then its on his own charishma. Thank GOD for showing this day to us. In year 2013 BJP got routed in Karnataka and Advani is found no where. Advani got the punishment for his evil deeds. If NAMO was not elevated yesterday, there was no way to punish the criminal Advani, So the GOD has decided in his own way. 2014 will see the rout and downfall of criminal NAMO in the national level. Only criminal mentality people can support NAMO. similarly let us show the same result and door to congress leaders for their corruption.

As accepted by Advaniji today , Ideology of BJP is diverted to personal gain of individual. Once so called most disciplined party now with lot of differences within the party. I congratulate the people of coastal area (D.K&Udp) for sending BJP where it should be. I wish BJP more worse days ahead….

    DINESH.....

You are politically immature because my definition of another option for LKA is not forming new party under the circumstances.RSS made Gadkeri BJP national President , it failed and RSS got a slap on it's face.Modi's elevation is also done by RSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!They(RSS)want BJP under their CHEDDY but politics and ideology must differ then only Party has future. Now there are different thukuda party and dissent NDA constituents will rally towards LKA.His only political blunder was RATHA YAATHRA and active association Babri Masjid demolition and FYI, if that would not happened LKA might had in PM throne. What I predicted yesterday(MORE DEVELOPMENT IN BJP ON PIPELINE)vindicated my views and I guess BJP's hope of garnering 200plus MPs got a big jolt!!!

BJP will be history soon as new party is on the rise.. The RSS..we can see the total control of RSS here. Bongis...Please change your party name to RSSP. Soon to follow Advani will be Yeshwant Sinha, Jashwant Sing, Jetmalani (already expelled),Sushma , Reddy bros (from Jail will launch new party). The list goes on...They can't manage 10 people or a state, how will they manage such a big country like India, its Government, its Parliament etc. Their experience for last 50 years is sitting in opposition. so please continue with it. We need good opposition leaders which only BJP can produce ('Born to Oppose')

For all those people who hate BJP this is what they wanted,A vertical split.2014 is already lost 50% for BJP.If Modi camp thinks it will lead BJP to victory then it will be just a day dream. No senior leader in BJP openly supported Modi.Rajnath Singh is an old fundamentalist ideologue of RSS.Only he is supporting Modi.In the coming days more and more worms will flow out of the party.

LK Ji should have retired from Politics instead of resigning all party positions ! That would have made him a much better leader than this act ! One is not sure why he is sulking like this against Modi , when the writing is on the wall and Modi has captured the heart of the masses ! Instead of sulking and blocking the path , he should have been magnanimous in his blessings ! After all if at all any one who can carry BJP to the victory in 2014 it would be Modi and not any one else. So why was proposing the ineffective Gadkari for the position of campaign leader ? What was his motive ? Now is the time for BJP to stop all the infighting and get on with it under Modi , since they have a task to accomplish

Mr.Rajnath Singh should have accepted the advise by Mr. L.K Advani instead of dancing to the music of some opportunists. Little does Mr. Rajnath Singh knows that it was Mr. Advani who has built the BJP through his Rath yathras. Only thing I did not like in Mr. Advani was his role in the demolition of the historic Babri Masjid , otherwise he is a leader of great importance in Democratic India. Mr. Modi could prove very arrogant and dictotorial if he becomes No. 1 in the BJP.

Good Decision by Advani. Modi's way is easier now. Advani had a great chance in 2009 and missed that. We need young leader like Modi who can take country forward. Advani's ideologies are not accepted by people.

We are thankful for the all the works he has done for the party. We wish him good old age life.

Now the father is kicked out of the party at national level. In Karnataka also they did the same thing. The person responsible to bring BJP to power in Karnataka was also kicked out..Now BJP is a gang of "Rowdy Boys".No body to advise and control them.Such a development will only bring this party from national level to state level. We saw how many BJP leaders losing deposit in Karnataka. Now we have to see how many BJP MPs lose deposit in 2014 elections. No suprise even if Modi loses deposit in central election.

There is lot of differences between Karnataka and National BJP so far as rebels are concerned. In Karnataka there is no popular leader compared to Yeddyurappa. In Karnataka people were fed up with BJP rule due to over corruptions and infightings. Yeddyurappa's main was to split BJP votes. But Advani will never try to devide BJP. He is just showing his displeasure about his views being not considered even though he is one of the senior most person in BJP.

Not looking back..if anybody wants to discontinue with BJP let them do right now..even JD's..
We need straight forward people like Modiji...
    - 'Only Vimal' brand name of Reliance..Elder son/daughter of Dhirubai Ambani...
    - 'Nirma' brand name of detergent..
Daughter of owner of Nirma..She already died at young age..
    - 'Only Modi' new brand name of BJP..
Will sweep more than 70% seats in next election...
    Modiji's waves all around...
Advaniji would have done it long back..just even take with Anant Kumar/Naidu/Jaswant/Yeshwant..leave behind sushma swaraj..!! It's modiji who worked for the party...in ground level during all 'rath-yatras'...
Boy who is selling once 'tea' near 'Geeta Mandir' Bus Depot in Ahmedabad alongwith his brother..his now aspiring candidate for Prime Minister..!! Nobody can stop him from the success.. Rahul Baba..wants to take training from him in free hours. Once if you go and sit in the house of 'Dalit' it wont' make rahulbaba a great leader..!! Jai Ho....
