Delhi cop killed in Haryana town

Rohtak (Haryana), Feb 13 (IANS): A Delhi Police constable was Wednesday killed in Haryana's Jhajjar district, police said.

Vijay, 25, of Sivana village, was going to Najafgarh in Delhi on a motorcycle when he was fired upon by some people. The victim's uncle was with him when the incident took place.

Police officials said that old enmity could be the reason behind the killing of the constable. A case of murder has been registered.

Jhajjar police spokesman Devender Dangi told IANS: "As they crossed a railway crossing outside Mehrana village, a Maruti Ritz car coming from opposite direction intercepted them. Some armed youths got down from the car and opened several round of fires at Vijay from close range. He died on the spot while the killers sped away."

Vijay's uncle was unhurt.
