New York, Feb 12 (IANS/EFE): The classic elegance of Carolina Herrera took to the New York Fashion Week runway Monday with dresses, evening gowns and outfit combinations inspired by an adaptation of Beethoven's Kreuzer Sonata.

The fall-winter collection by the Venezuela-born designer was fashioned from a modern take on Beethoven that she commissioned British composer Tom Hodge to create for the runway show.

With veteran Spanish fashion-show DJ Javier Peral as adviser, the result was "Capriccio for Carolina", a New Age remix of the original romantic classicism.

Herrera said it was "perfect" the first time she heard it. "It's perfect because it starts soft, and then it goes in crescendo. Just like I'm trying to do with the show. Soft looks at the beginning and then crescendo! All the drama. Then there's romance. Then there is melancholia."

The models strutted Herrera's elegant stuff before a number of guests including Spanish actress Paz Vega.

The 74-year-old Herrera said there are still "tons of things" she wants to do.

"I have thousands of projects and there are so many things I want to do, but I'm not saying what they are so they'll actually happen," she said to avoid giving any details.
