Language Barrier Thwarts Robbery at US Restaurant

Washington, Nov 7 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Three masked men suffered an embarrassing failure as they attempted to rob a Chinese restaurant in Orlando, Florida, but did not speak a Chinese dialect, Orlando Sentinel daily reported.

The daily reported citing police authorities that the armed assailants demanded money from the restaurant's employees but they did not understand the suspected robbers as all workers spoke only Cantonese.

One of the frustrated robbers put his gun to the head of an employee and forced him to the ground while another one started hammering a cash register with a gun-butt in an attempt to break it open. At that point the gun accidentally fired, policemen said.

As the gun fired, the assailants escaped the restaurant with nothing. A police dog later tracked them to their car and they were detained.
