Tokyo, Aug 31 (IANS): The Tokyo District Court Friday ruled that Samsung Electronics Co. has not infringed Apple Inc.'s smartphone and tablet computer patent.
The ruling came after a US jury's decision earlier this month that Samsung copied key features of Apple's iPhone and iPad, ordering Samsung to pay a $1.05 billion fine, reported Xinhua.
In South Korea, at the same time, a court ruled that the two smartphone rivals infringed each other's patents and ordered a ban on sales in the country of some mobile devices by both.
The devices subject to the ruling in Japan include eight kinds of Samsung's portable devices that are carried by NTT Docomo Inc. and KDDI Corp. Apple said the technology applied by these devices was used in its iPhone and iPad.
