Hong Kong Director Announced Best at Changchun Film Fest


Beijing, Aug 26 (IANS): Hong Kong director-producer Johnnie To Kei-fung was honoured with the best director award for his 2011 film "Death of a Hostage" at the 11th Changchun Film Festival.

The festival ended Saturday night in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin province, and a cradle of the country's film industry, Xinhua reported.

The six-day festival was attended by renowned directors, playwrights, actors, composers and officials from China as well as Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao.

Chinese film stars Lei Jiayin and Ni Ping won the best actor and actress awards for "Guns and Roses" and "Bright Sunshine" respectively.

The best music award went to "Design of Death".

A total of 268 Chinese films was shown during the festival, 32 of which entered the final round of competition for nine major awards.

The Changchun Film Festival has been held every two years since it was launched in 1992.
