Rajesh Khanna's Bungalow Renamed as 'Vardan Aashirwad'

Mumbai, Aug 23 (PTI): 'Aashirwad', the iconic bungalow of Bollywood's first superstar Rajesh Khanna has now been renamed as 'Vardan Aashirwad'.

"Yes...the name of the bungalow has been changed. But I cannot say the reason...it is personal...why should I tell you," Khanna's estranged wife Dimple Kapadia told PTI.

According to sources close to the actor, "The name of the bungalow has been changed due to actor's last wishes. It is to do with the vastu."

Interestingly, when Khanna bought this bungalow from actor Rajendra Kumar, it was called 'Dimple', as it was the name of Kumar's daughter. Though Khanna decided to continue with the same name, it was later changed to 'Aashirwad'.

The bungalow is also likely to be turned into a museum in keeping with Khanna's wishes.

The actor, fondly called as Kaka, died after a prolonged illness last month at the age of 69.
