26 Sailors Rescued from Somali Pirates

Beijing, Jul 18 (IANS): Chinese navy ships have rescued 26 sailors - 13 from China, one from Taiwan and 12 from Vietnam - from Somali pirates, the Chinese government has said.

The ministry of foreign affairs said the crew members of the Taiwan-registered fishing boat, FV Shiuh Fu No.1, were seized by pirates off the coast of Somalia in December 2010, the Shanghai Daily reported Wednesday.

The crew was freed Tuesday night by Chinese Navy ships patrolling the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters.
