Irrfan in Light-hearted Role as Fanney Khan

Mumbai, Apr 6 (IANS): Irrfan may have dropped his surname Khan but, like success, the Khan tag seems to be following him. The critically acclaimed actor is all set to play Fanney Khan in a rustic love story directed by Shivam Nair and produced by Anjum Rizvi.

Talking of Irrfan's role, Nair said: "His is a very entertaining character. After Paan Singh Tomar, he plays a light hearted fictitious character called Fanney Khan who is a member of Saraswati Brass band that goes for weddings in Lucknow.

"He keeps on checking and wooing girls attending the wedding. People will see him in a light role after a long gap."

In the film, Irrfan will be seen opposite Aditi Rao Hydari, who was last seen as the lead in "London, Paris, New York".

To be shot in Lucknow, the film will have earthy rustic language and flavour to the whole film.
